An evening of introductions, followed by dinner, in honour of the newly admitted and promoted members of the Delegation of Naples and Campania of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George took place recently (February 2024) in the elegant halls of the Italian Naval League Club at the Porticciolo del Molosiglio in Naples.
The evening, which was attended by all the newly admitted and promoted members accompanied by their family and friends, was organized by the Council of the Delegation, with the coordination entrusted to Counselor Alessandro Franchi, Knight of Merit, who is in charge of the Delegation’s cultural and charitable activities.
The Delegate for Naples and Campania, Nob. Manuel de Goyzueta di Toverena, of the Marquises of Toverena and Trentinara, Knight of Justice, was there to welcome the guests as was Attorney Alessandro Franchi. Also present were several members of the Council, including the Secretary General, Nob. Patrizio Romano Giangreco, Knight of Jure Sanguinis; the Treasurer, Nob. Giancarlo de Goyzueta di Toverena, of the Marquises of Toverena, Knight of Justice; the Chief Chaplain and Head of Spiritual Activities, Father Sergio Angelo Germano Galdi d’Aragona, O.F.M., General Commissioner of the Holy Land in Naples, Chaplain of Justice; the Head of Communications, Prof. Antonio De Stefano, Knight of Merit with Silver Star; and the Ceremonial Officer, Dr. Domenico Giuseppe Costabile, Knight of Merit.
During the evening, the promotions and appointments as Chaplain or Knight and Lady were announced, with the investiture on the occasion of the next Pontifical Mass for the feast of the Patron Saint of the Order, Saint George the Martyr, which will take place on Saturday 20 April 2024
After an apéritif, dinner was served in the restaurant of the Naval League Club, followed by a speech by Nob. Manuel de Goyzueta di Toverena, who formulated his best wishes for the newly admitted and promoted, reiterating the aims and objectives of the Constantinian Order. Attorney Alessandro Franchi recalled the purposes and behavioral norms to which members of the Constantinian Order are required to adhere.
Subsequently, a toast was proposed, with the sparkling wine “Ferdinandus I”, offered by Antonio Caputo, Knight of Office. produced by his “Enodelta” winery in Acerra, followed by the traditional group photo and final greetings.
The Italian Naval League
The Italian Naval League is a public body responsible for services of public interest which operates under the supervision of the Ministries of Defense and Transport and Navigation and under the high patronage of the President of the Republic.
It aims to spread among the Italian people, in particular among young people, a love for the sea, the maritime spirit and the knowledge of maritime problems, with the aim of citizens’ participation in the development and progress of all forms of national activities related to action on the sea.
It promotes the protection of the marine environment and inland waters and develops promotional, cultural, natural, sporting and educational initiatives suitable for achieving the association’s objectives: it promotes and supports the practice of recreational and nautical activities.
It also operates in concert with central and peripheral public administrations, with the sports federations of the C.O.N.I. and foreign Naval Maritime Leagues.
It works, with passion, to achieve one objective above all: to spread the love for the sea, in a city that has, in the sea, one of its most significant leitmotifs. All activities are aimed at enhancing the maritime spirit, at making knowledge of maritime problems widespread.
Today, the members of the Italian Naval League – Naples Section are over 1,000 and the fleet of social sailing and motor vessels exceeds 80 boats.
