Conference of the Constantinian Order’s Lombardy Delegation on “Understanding and communicating science – shared knowledge and choices in an open society”

The third monthly meeting in 2025 of the Lombardy Delegation of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George took place on Thursday, March 6, 2025. The meeting, which was held in the church of Santa Maria presso San Satiro in via Torino in Milan, began at 6:10 pm with the celebration of Mass, followed at 7:00 pm by a conference on the theme Understanding and communicating science – shared knowledge and choices in an open society. We are immersed in a world shaped by science and technology, whose effects have repercussions not only on our societies, which are increasingly dependent on them, but also on our desires and expectations. It is therefore not surprising that public communication of science and technology is attributed a fundamental role in the functioning of contemporary democracies, with the burden of responsibility that this entails.

The celebration of Mass was presided over by Father Mauro Viganò, Constantinian Chaplain of Merit, in the presence of the Principal Chaplain for Northern Italy, Father Fabio Fantoni, Chaplain Grand Cross of Jure Sanguinis; Father Paolo Lobiati, Chaplain of Merit, Judge of the Lombard Ecclesiastical Tribunal and a lawyer registered in the Register of the Roman Rota; the Delegate for Lombardy, Dr. Eng. Gilberto Spinardi, Knight Grand Cross of Merit; and the Lieutenant for Northern Italy of the Royal Commission for Italy, Nob. Paolo dei Conti Borin (of the Counts Borin), Knight Grand Cross of Justice.

At the end of Mass, before the concluding blessing, the Director of the Cultural Activities of the Delegation, Prof. Edoardo Teodoro Brioschi, Knight Grand Cross of Merit, recited the Prayer of the Constantinian Knight.

After the celebration of Mass, Prof. Edoardo Teodoro Brioschi introduced Prof. Franco Salvatore Giudice, Full Professor of History of Science and Technology in the Department of Philosophy, Faculty of Letters and Philosophy of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart of Milan, who presented a lecture on the theme Understanding and communicating science – shared knowledge and choices in an open society.
