The Naples and Campania Delegation of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George, in accordance with its established custom, carried out service on Sunday, 15 February 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at the Fraternal Soup Kitchen “Locanda San Vincenzo de’ Paoli” of the diocesan Caritas of the Diocese of Nola.
Constantinian Knights took part in the initiative together with volunteers from the Parish of the Collegio: six to eight volunteers engaged in preparing and cooking meals, and two to three volunteers assigned to distribution, tidying, and cleaning the premises. The service is carried out by the Knights every two months during the third week of the month and represents a meaningful moment of solidarity, forming part of the broader program of charitable initiatives promoted by the Delegation in support of the most vulnerable and needy.
The activity of the Fraternal Soup Kitchen consists of preparing and distributing hot meals served on disposable trays, which guests collect at the kitchen counter and then consume at tables already set with disposable tableware. In addition to on-site service, takeaway meals are prepared for several families in need. The meals are packaged in containers proportionate to the number of family members and placed in personal bags, sterilized by volunteers before reuse, thus ensuring maximum hygiene and food safety.
This approach serves a dual purpose: to provide a hot meal to families in need and to allow them to share their daily meal in their own homes, preserving intimacy and family unity.
The Fraternal Soup Kitchen “Locanda San Vincenzo de’ Paoli” is located behind the Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta in Nola. The person in charge of the facility is Father Enrico Tuccillo, assisted by the Administrator Dr. Francesco Esposito and Dr. Domenico Alfano, with the support of Dr. Michele D’Urso. Thanks to their commitment and that of the volunteers assigned to the kitchens and cleaning, more than 100 meals are prepared daily, from approximately 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., for people in need, served at tables or distributed at the entrance gates of the kitchen.
The day of service begins at 8:00 a.m. with meal preparation; at noon the distribution of takeaway lunches begins, followed, from 12:30 to about 1:30 p.m., by table service with the delivery of hot meals in disposable containers and tableware. The activity concludes with cleaning the premises, tables, and restrooms. Particular attention is constantly given to compliance with hygienic and sanitary standards, considered an essential element of the charitable work.
On weekdays, a shower service for men and women is also available, including changes of underwear and clothing.
On this occasion, Eng. Nicola Annunziata and Atty. Paolo Carbone, Knights of Office, served, distributing hot meals to those in need with an authentic spirit of Christian charity. Greetings were also brought by Dr. Giuseppe Russo, Knight of Merit, who, together with Prof. Valerio Stefano Sacco, Knight of Office, oversees and coordinates relations with the diocesan Caritas, the managers of the Fraternal Soup Kitchen, and the volunteers of the Parish of Chiesa di San Felice Vescovo e Martire, known as “del Collegio.”
The Parish took on the name “del Collegio” because the parish church was attached to the College and the Convent of the Rocchettine Sisters (Lateran Canonesses) until their suppression following the Unification of Italy, after the laws of 7 July 1866 and 15 August 1867, which decreed the suppression of religious orders and the liquidation of ecclesiastical property, resulting in the confiscation of assets by the state, provincial, or municipal authorities.
The Church and Monastery thus became municipal property and, until the beginning of the last century, formed a single architectural complex. In 1913, the Municipality of Nola approved the opening of what is now Via Ciccone, selling off parts of the buildings and gardens on which new structures were erected, physically separating the Church from the Convent. The latter, subsequently transformed and expanded, was designated as the site of the State Primary Schools and still today houses the Second Educational District “Maria Sanseverino.”
