Authentic charity does not need clamour. Rather, it needs hands that reach out and hearts that listen. With this spirit, the donation of food items destined for the less fortunate families of the Parish of Maria Santissima Achiropita-Cattedrale in Piazza Duomo in Corigliano Rossano took place on Monday 23 June 2025, a gesture of sharing and hope promoted by the Alto Ionio Cosentino Section of the Calabria Delegation of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George. The food items were delivered directly to the parish, where volunteers take care of the distribution to the neediest families in the area. The donation sends a profound message. A collection born in silence, grown with love. No big campaign, no showcase. Only the authentic desire to be close to those who, every day, face the burden of life with courage but without means. True solidarity is that which listens without judging, that stands by without asking for anything in return.
Under the auspices of the Constantinian Order’s Delegate for Calabria, H.E. the Marquis Pierluigi Sanfelice di Bagnoli, Bailiff Grand Cross of Justice, Lieutenant for Southern Peninsular Italy of the Order’s Royal Commission for Italy, the following participated in the collection of food and the delivery of the donations: the Referrer for the Upper Ionian Cosentino, Dr. Antonio Coiro, Knight of Office; the Knight of Merit, Dr. Maurizio Barbato; the Knights of Office, Dr. Salvatore Senatore, Dr. Massimo Turtora and Dr. Cataldo Paparella; the Dame of Office, Dr. Franca Spataro; and the postulants, Giovanni Battista Rindelli and Dr. Sabrina Spataro.
Dr. Antonio Coiro said: “We wanted to bring a concrete sign of closeness. A gesture that says: we are here, you are not alone. In every item of food donated there was the value of the community that becomes family, and of faith that becomes action.”
The Parish Priest, Father Pietro Madeo, accompanied by the volunteers Sisters Immacolata, Annarosa and Anna (in the cover photo), welcomed the donation with emotion and gratitude: “These goods arrived at the right time. For many families, even a small help makes a difference. But what matters most is knowing that someone remembers them, that they are not invisible. Knowing that someone, outside their daily circle, thought of them, has an immense meaning.”
