Given the serious consequences caused by Storm Dana in Valencia, Spain, the Constantinian Order of Saint George, with its Grand Master at its head, has intensified its efforts to assist the affected people and communities.
The Order, through close and committed volunteers, is reaffirming its mission of help and solidarity, to provide concrete support to those who need it most. All members of the Constantinian Order deeply appreciate the generosity of those who have collaborated, both actively and financially.
In a special way, we want to send our sincere gratitude to our confréres and consoeurs of the Order, Knights, Ladies and volunteers who are working tirelessly, channeling their efforts to mobilize and raise awareness in society after the devastating effects of DANA.
The Constantine Order of Saint George responded immediately, from the very beginning of the tragedy
HRH Prince Pedro of Bourbon-Two Sicilies, Duke of Calabria, Grand Master of the Constantinian Order of Saint George, on behalf of all the Knights and Ladies of the Order, issued a prompt statement of condolence to the families and friends of those who died as a result of Storm Dana.
After this, he contacted the Delegations of the Order in the Valencian Community and Castilla-La Mancha, to coordinate his action through the appropriate public administration channels, collaborating via all available means to assist those in need.
Given the magnitude of the catastrophe, a work team was created at once, led by HRH the Duke of Calabria, who devised a roadmap with the actions and decisions to be taken to provide an immediate response on the ground. Once the specific needs were defined, the distribution of resources and aid in the affected areas was planned.
Members of the Order initially moved to the districts of La Torre and Massanassa, where they carried out cleaning work and collected belongings that hindered passage and traffic, in addition to removing mud from the streets and houses.
As a consequence of the magnitude of the catastrophe, emergency operations were also moved to Catarroja and Horno de Alcedo as these were some of the most seriously affected municipalities. In collaboration with the Delegation of the Order in the Valencian Community, access was achieved to the restricted areas, where food and drinking water could be delivered to families most in need and to the elderly.
This first phase of response focused on the removal of obstacles, mud and objects that impeded the passage and the arrival of aid to people who needed to cover their basic needs. The first phase also involved provision of cleaning and hygiene products, medicines, food for celiacs and industrial materials and equipment such as gloves, boots and PPE suits, trying to help the affected families cope with the first days after the catastrophe.
In the next phase, volunteers, Knights and Ladies of the Order from different areas of Spain traveled – led once again by the Grand Master – to coordinate the delivery of personal hygiene items, medicines, dehumidifiers and industrial vacuum cleaners to the Immaculate Conception Residence of Aldaia, run by the Sisters of the Society of the Cross.
The Superior of the Society of the Cross, Sister María Magdalena, guided them through the facilities of the Residence devastated by the floods. Despite the destruction and desolation of what happened, these nuns are an example of peace, harmony and hope. They maintain the care of the elderly in a formidable manner and provide them with service in the face of difficulties. They plan to undertake additional work or repairs not covered by the property’s insurance or, failing that, by the Compensation Consortium.
The Duke of Calabria conveyed to Sister Mary Magdalena and all those present that “the Constantinian Order has a vocation to serve others through its volunteers at all times, but even more so when it is most needed.”
Prior to the visit to the residence, a donation of children’s items was made to the San Juan Bosco Parish in Torrent.
Concrete aid and commitment for the future:
Our team of volunteers continues to work and respond to those affected, coordinated and guided on the ground by the Delegation of the Order in Valencia.
Likewise, the Constantinian Order of Saint George is carrying out additional assistance efforts to respond to the requests received, prioritizing nursing homes in the affected areas. Our action will extend throughout 2025 and includes constant communication with the affected areas so that essential elements are not missing.
Our objective is clear: we want to offer all our support in terms of volunteering and collaboration for a cause as important as this, always keeping in mind that we are an Order of people for people.
The Ortoprono Company, led by Mr. José Bernanrdo Noblejas, is recognized in the orthopaedic sector for offering personalized solutions to children and adults in order to cover orthopaedic needs. Currently, they are distinguished by their specialization and innovative nature of providing comprehensive solutions with the best technological advances of the moment. The Constantinian Order has a collaboration agreement, which establishes a framework of assistance by Ortoprono in covering the needs of orthopaedic products and services as well as the promotion of orthopaedic solutions with the aim of contributing to the improvement of quality of life.
