The Spanish translation of “The Constantinian Order of Saint George (and the Angeli, Farnese and Bourbon families which governed it)“, by Guy Stair Sainty, Vice-Grand Chancellor of the Constantinian Order, was published in 2020. The work has been published both in Spanish and English by the Boletín Oficial del Estado (BOE), the Official Government Gazette of the Kingdom of Spain. The original English edition of “The Constantinian Order of Saint George (and the Angeli Farnese and Bourbon families which governed it)” was first published on December 3, 2018.

This book, the most complete and definitive history of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of St. George to date, is the result of exhaustive research by the author in various archives in Naples, Rome and Madrid. In its printed form, it is a large-format book (249×318 cm), with 580 color pages and a hardcover. However, the BOE has now published the full text of both the English and Spanish editions on-line. This publication must be considered the most comprehensive history of the Order to be written, covering the period from its founding to the present, including an examination of Emperor Constantine’s conversion, the complex relationships between the Balkan dynasties, and the Order’s expansion at the end of the 16th and 17th centuries until its grand mastership passed to the Farnese dynasty. Also noteworthy is the meticulous examination of the transfer of the Grand Mastership from the House of Farnese to the House of Bourbon and the subsequent succession by male primogeniture within what became the Royal House of Bourbon of the Two Sicilies, all supplemented by a large number of relevant and previously unpublished documents. The book includes more than 300 images and incorporates, as appendices, historical texts and key essays, together with a detailed bibliography and an index of names.
