A request for help came from the Parish of San Giovanni Battista di Sant’Eufemia in Lamezia Terme, promoted by Sant’Eufemia Vincentian Volunteers, based in the same Parish. This request derived from the fact that, in the month of May, the group will not receive its usual support from the Food Bank. This is how a collection of basic food supplies was activated among the Knights, Ladies and Postulants of the Lamezia Terme and Cosenza Section of the Delegation of Calabria of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George.
Dr. Vincenzina Aloe, President of the Sant’Eufemia Vincentian Volunteer groups, was immediately contacted by Dr. Domenico D’Auria, Knight of Merit and Raffaele Mazza, Knight of Office, communicating that the Vincentian Volunteers could count on the support of the Constantinian Order.
Given the urgency of finding basic food supplies to be able to satisfy the needs of sixty families in difficulty, the first to respond among the Knights, Ladies and Postulants of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George present in Lamezia Terme were the Knights of Merit Dr. Domenico D’Auria and Dr. Roberto M. Naso Náccari Carlizzi; the Knights of Office Raffaele Mazza, Maurizio Capano and Atty. Massimo Seminara; the Postulant Angelo Crucitti; and the volunteers Dr. Maria Gianina Barcan and Paola Diano, who immediately and generously accepted the Section Representative’s invitation in a concrete way, purchasing and delivering a batch of basic food items consisting of pasta, tomato pulp and legumes (beans and lentils), which were delivered on Thursday 9 May 2024.
President Aloe expressed words of gratitude for the concrete and immediate gesture in this emergency. Applause for the sensitivity and speed of the intervention came from the Order’s Interim Delegate for Calabria, H.E. the Marquis Don Pierluigi Sanfelice di Bagnoli, Knight Grand Cross of Justice, Lieutenant for Southern Peninsular Italy of the Order’s Royal Commission for Italy, who expressed warm and vivid words of appreciation: “I am proud of the Knights, the Ladies, the Postulants and the volunteers of our Calabria Delegation who are proving to be very active and sensitive to the requests and needs of the least fortunate.”
