On Sunday, June 21, 2026, a delegation from the Eastern Sicily Delegation of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George, led by the Delegate, Nob. Ferdinando Testoni Blasco, Knight Grand Cross of Justice, at the invitation of the Governor of the Noble Arciconfraternity of the Whites in Catania, Don Pietro Moncada Paternò Castello, Prince of Valsavoia, Knight of Justice, took part at 7:00 PM in the Summer Solstice Charity Concert at the charming Tenuta San Michele of the historic Scammacca del Murgo family, at 13 Via Zafferana in Santa Venerina, on the slopes of Etna, experiencing the magic of the shortest night of the year in the name of solidarity and charity.
The charity event, organized by the Noble Arciconfraternity of the Whites in collaboration with the Scammacca del Murgo Winery and the Monk Jazz Club of Catania, united solidarity, culture and conviviality in an evening characterized by live jazz among the Etna vineyards, wine tastings and gastronomic moments of sharing.
The entire proceeds of the Summer Solstice Charity Concert are intended to support the Solidarity Desk of the Parish of Saints Peter and Paul of Catania, active for more than eleven years in favor of hundreds of families and people in severe economic distress, through distribution of basic necessities, listening and human accompaniment, as well as other charitable initiatives in the territory that daily operate, often quietly, in service of the most vulnerable. The event fits into the framework of the charitable activities promoted by the historic Catanese Arciconfraternity, with the aim of supporting the welfare and charitable works that have characterized the institution’s mission for centuries. The Noble Arciconfraternity of the Whites, of sixteenth-century origin, founded to offer spiritual assistance and comfort to those condemned to death, represents one of the oldest expressions of organized charity in the city. Deeply linked to the city’s religious and noble tradition, it has stood for centuries for the Christian formation of its confrères, continuing its mission today through welfare works, cultural initiatives and activities to protect the historic heritage.
The participation of the Eastern Sicily Delegation of the Royal Commission for Italy of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George in this faith, culture and solidarity gathering constitutes a significant testimony to the unity of aims between the ancient chivalric and confraternal institutions of the city, renewing the common commitment to serve the Church and the community.
The approximately 150 people who came to the event, combining solidarity, culture and conviviality, attended a refined jazz concert performed by the Cirinnà Hammond Trio of the Monk Jazz Club of Catania: Rino Cirinnà (sax), Angelo Cultreri (organ) and Andrea Liotta (drums), who traced the characteristic, entertaining sounds of the 1950s and 1960s, the golden era of American music.
The musical program was accompanied by a tasting of the new Extra Brut 2017 from Scammacca del Murgo winery, a wine with nine years of aging.
The tasting was led by Don Bernardo Scammacca del Murgo (first photo below) and Don Michele Scammacca del Murgo (second photo below), who presented the wine and the story of the family’s business venture.
This was followed by a convivial moment with cocktails, featuring a selection of Sicilian culinary delights.
