On Sunday 15 September 2024, a representation of the Delegation of Rome and Vatican City of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George, on the anniversary of the feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross – which constitutes, together with the feast of Saint George, the most important and moving feast days of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George – attended Mass at the Magistral Basilica of Santa Croce on Via Flaminia in Rome. The Mass was preceded by the Procession with the Relic of the True Cross.
In the procession, which started at 10.30 am from the small Church of Sant’Andrea a Ponte Milvio in Piazza Cardinal Consalvi (along the streets of the Flaminio district, up to the basilica in Via Guido Reni, over a distance of approximately 1 km), the relic of the True Cross recovered by Saint Helena, the mother of Emperor Constantine, on 14 September 320, was carried. It is kept in the Magistral Basilica.
Afterwards, at 11.00 am the Constantinian knights attended Mass with the faithful of the Parish. The Mass was celebrated by the Superior General of the Congregation of the Sacred Stigmata of Our Lord Jesus Christ, commonly called the Stigmatine Fathers, Father Claudio Montolli, C.S.S. Father Montolli in his homily explored the mystery of the Cross that every Christian, following the teaching of Jesus, must carry in the faith and joy of Christ.
Those Constantinian knights who were present for the procession and the Mass included: the Councilor of the Royal Commission for Italy and Curator of the Magistral Basilica of Santa Croce al Flaminio, Dr. Lorenzo De Notaristefani, Knight Grand Cross of Justice; the Secretary of the Delegation and Secretary General of the Chancellery of the Royal Commission for Italy, Dr. Michele Cantarano, Knight of Jure Sanguinis; the Director of Communications and Liaison for the Delegation’s Charitable Activities, Prof. Eng. Luca Mazzola, Knight of Merit; the Liaison for the Castelli Romani Area, Dr. Franco Iacobini, Knight of Jure Sanguinis with Gold Star; Dr. Maurizio Bettoja, Knight of Justice; Attorney Giovanni Carlo Parente Zamparelli, Knight of Jure Sanguinis; and Dr. Fabrizio Gregori and Attorney Fabio Costa, Knights of Merit with Silver Star.
