On Monday, November 24, 2024, Civitavecchia celebrated with great popular participation the festivities in honor of Saint Firmina, patron saint of the city and protector of sailors. The feast day of the holy martyr is a religious and civil event at the same time, of great importance for the local community. This is perceived as a privileged moment of faith and reflection, but also and above all as an opportunity to learn more about the traditions of Civitavecchia that have their roots in centuries of history. The intense day of celebrations, liturgy and ceremonies, organized with the support of the Diocesan Committee for Patron Saint Firmina and the Confraternita del Gonfalone, represents a unique opportunity to experience the deep cultural bond that unites the community of Civitavecchia to this ancient festivity. In keeping with tradition, at the invitation of the Diocesan Curia, a representation of the Delegation of Tuscia and Sabina of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George participated in the solemn celebrations.
