On Thursday, 20 August 2026, in the Sucre room of the Club Unión in Quito, the first conference dedicated to the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George was held in the Republic of Ecuador. The event was organized in collaboration with H.E. Elías Petrus Fernandini y Bohlin, Ambassador of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta in Ecuador and Knight Grand Cross of Merit of the Constantinian Order, and with Patricio Álvarez Plaza, Minister-Counsellor at the Embassy.

The Vice-Grand Auditor of the Royal Deputation, H.E. Dr. Don Amadeo-Martín Rey y Cabieses, Knight Grand Cross of Justice, Patron of the Fundación Orden Constantiniana de San Jorge, delivered a lecture entitled The Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George: history and global activities . Introduced by Ricardo Ortega Maldonado, Counsellor of the Embassy of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta in Ecuador, who traveled for the occasion from Guayaquil, the speaker retraced the history of the Order—and the religious, humanitarian, and cultural activities carried out in the countries where it is present—supported by numerous images.

The Order’s international presence is carried out through the Royal Commissions and other Constantinian bodies in Europe and the Americas, in particular in the United States of America, the Antilles, Peru, and Brazil.

The meeting represented a first step toward making the Constantinian Order known in Ecuador. The mission—uniting the glorification of the Cross, the spread of the Faith, and care for the most needy—was explained to the participants, with the hope that new religious and charitable initiatives may also take root in the country.

At the conclusion of the address, a discussion took place during which the Vice-Grand Auditor answered questions from those present and further explored the topics that emerged during the conference.

The conference offered a first opportunity for interaction between the Constantinian Order and the public in Ecuador’s capital, thanks to the collaboration with the Embassy of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta and the contribution of Dr. Don Amadeo-Martín Rey y Cabieses, PhD in History, Medicine and Jurisprudence, Full Member and Director of Publications of the Real Academia Matritense de Heráldica y Genealogía, as well as Corresponding Member of the Real Academia de Historia and of the Academy of Diplomacy of the Kingdom of Spain.
