A representation of the Tuscany Delegation of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George, led by the Delegate, Dr. Massimo Planera, Knight Grand Cross of Merit, took part on Saturday, 14 March 2026, in a gathering in Cascia di Reggello, in the Metropolitan City of Florence, within the Diocese of Fiesole.

The meaningful and well-attended day began with a visit to the Masaccio Museum, adjacent to the Pieve of Saints Peter and Paul, where one of the most significant works in the history of perspective, rich in Christian symbolism, is preserved: Masaccio’s San Giovenale Triptych. The work, dated 1422, when the artist was about twenty-one years old, presents strongly innovative elements for its time and is considered the oldest known example of the use of geometric perspective in Renaissance painting.

The visit was guided by the ninety-year-old Father Ottavio Failli, former parish priest of the Pieve and a historical figure of the Cascia di Reggello community, who grew up alongside this work, regarded as Masaccio’s first and rediscovered only in relatively recent times.

Subsequently, in the parish hall, following introductory greetings from the Delegate and from the President of the Accademia di Marina of the Knights of Santo Stefano, Prof. Marco Gemignani, Knight of Merit with Silver Star, a cultural moment took place dedicated to the history of time measurement and its connections with religion. The meeting was organized by Damiano Landi, Knight of Merit with Silver Star, with an address by Prof. Giovanni Cipriani, Academician of the Georgofili, Knight of Merit and Professor of Modern History at the University of Florence.

Before the Eucharistic Celebration in the Pieve of Saints Peter and Paul, a notable example of 12th-century Romanesque architecture in the Upper Valdarno, Father Ottavio Failli illustrated the main architectural features of the building, also offering historical notes on the ancient church.

The day concluded with a convivial breakfast and the exchange of greetings in view of the upcoming Easter festivities.
