The second monthly meetings of the year of the Messina and Catania Sections of the Eastern Sicily Delegation of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George were held on Sunday 23 February 2025 at 5:30 pm at the church of San Giuseppe a Palazzo di Messina and Saturday 22 February 2025 at 7:00 pm at the Basilica of the Collegiate Church of Catania. On the VII Sunday of Ordinary Time the Gospel (Lk 6:27-38) offers us the teaching of Christ: love your enemies, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you: whoever strikes you on the right cheek, turn also the left. This is the ideal of evangelical charity; it may seem like a paradox, but just think about it; according to human parameters it seems inconceivable: to love one’s enemies, to do good to those who do evil, but Jesus certainly did not come to test the selfish and individualistic, arrogant and proud world. Jesus knows human behavior well: “If you love those who love you, if you do good to those who have done good to you… what extraordinary thing have you done? Don’t even the pagans do the same?”

Messina Section

The solemn celebration of the monthly Holy Mass of the Messina Section at the church of San Giuseppe a Palazzo di Messina, was presided over by the Rector, Monsignor Santi Musico’, Chaplain of Merit with Silver Star, with the participation of the Knights, Dames and Postulants of the Constantinian Order, led by the Messina Representative of the Delegation, Giuseppe Tortorici, Knight of Merit with Silver Star, in the presence of the Secretary General of the Delegation, Michele Lauro, Knight of Merit with Silver Star.

 

 

 

 

Catania Section

The solemn celebration of the monthly Holy Mass of the Catania Section in the baroque setting of the Ancient Royal and Illustrious Collegiate Basilica of Maria Santissima dell’Elemosina of Catania, better known as the Basilica of the Collegiate, was presided over by the Religious Master of Ceremonies of the Delegation, the Provost Monsignor Carmelo Salvatore Asero, Chaplain of Merit with Silver Star, Judicial Vicar of the Archdiocese of Catania.

Knights, Ladies and Postulants of the Constantinian Order participated, led by the Delegation Representative for Catania, Luigi Lauriola, Knight of Merit, who at the end of the Sacred Rite recited the Prayer of the Constantinian Knight.
