On Friday 20 December 2024, the Section for the Cities of Lamezia Terme and Cosenza of the Calabrian Delegation of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George delivered panettone and clothing items to the Parish of San Giovanni Battista in Cosenza, intended for needy families assisted by the parish. Advent is the time of waiting for the One who is to come. It is the wait for Jesus, not only in the memory of His birth, but with a gaze that embraces all of human history. Advent teaches us always to be vigilant, never allowing ourselves to be drowned in the banality of the days that pass. Upon His glorious return He will ask for an account of how the talents He has given have been used. The judgement will focus on seven points, that is, on the works of mercy. Therefore, knights, ladies and postulants of the Constantinian Order lived the period of waiting for the birth of the Saviour in the Season of Advent, with the necessary commitment to solidarity towards the weakest and most needy, also and above all during the festive periods, which can be particularly painful for those who find themselves in situations of loneliness, fragility and poverty.
The parish priest of San Giovanni Battista, Monsignor Pier Maria Del Vecchio, Chaplain of the State Police of Cosenza, joyfully welcomed the unexpected and welcome donation, which was delivered to the parish by a representative of the Section for the cities of Lamezia Terme and Cosenza, led by the Representative, Maestro Raffaele Mazza, Knight of Office, with the participation of the Secretary General of the Delegation, Dr. Domenico D’Auria, Knight of Merit; Maurizio Capano, Knight of Office; and Dr. Maria Francesca Falcone, postulant.
The interim Delegate for Calabria, H.E. Marquis Pierluigi Sanfelice di Bagnoli, Knight Grand Cross of Justice, Lieutenant for Peninsular Southern Italy, having learned the news of the solidarity initiative, expressed his thanks to the participants for their commitment in favour of the weakest, with gratitude to the Constantinian confrères and consoeurs who work to stay close to the less fortunate in the various provinces where the Delegation of Calabria is present.
