On Saturday 21 December 2024, at 11.30 am at the Parish Sanctuary of Sant’Antonio-Opera Don Orione in via Beato Luigi Orione, on the Collina degli Angeli, one of the hills overlooking Reggio Calabria, the Section for the Cities of Reggio Calabria and Vibo Valentia of the Calabria Delegation of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George held a pre-Christmas meeting. On this occasion, the chaplains recalled that Advent is the time of waiting for Holy Christmas, the waiting for the coming of Jesus into the world, as recalled by the entrance antiphon of the Holy Mass: «Behold, the Mighty Lord: he will be called Emmanuel, God with us (Cf. Is 7,14; 8,10)”. The knights, ladies and postulants of the Constantinian Order have lived this period of waiting for the birth of the Saviour of the Advent Season, with the necessary commitment to solidarity towards the weakest and most needy, aware of the need to be closer to the needs of the least among us with a Christian and chivalrous spirit, even and above all during festive periods, which can be particularly painful for those who find themselves in situations of loneliness, fragility and poverty. After Holy Mass, the participants met for a convivial meal at a local restaurant.
The celebration of the Holy Mass was presided over by Father Giovanni Gattuso, Chaplain of Merit, in the presence of the Vice Delegate, Nob. Dr. Candido Francica, Knight of Jure Sanguinis. The representation of the Section for the Cities of Reggio Calabria and Vibo Valentia was led by the Representative, the Nob. Dr. Concetta Lombardi Satriani, Dame of Jure Sanguinis, with the participation of the Director of Healthcare Activities of the Delegation, Dr. Emanuele Nazario Scarlata, Knight of Merit with Silver Star; Attorney Antonio Barbalace, Knight of Merit; Dr. Rosaria Perrone, Dame of Merit; Dr. Alberto Zizza, Knight of Office; and the postulants Carmelo Mollica and Susanna Quattrone. Furthermore, a representative of the Hospital Volunteers Association-AVO of Reggio Calabria participated.
On this occasion, Father Giovanni Gattuso brought Christmas greetings of the Prior of the Delegation, the Archbishop Emeritus of Cosenza-Bisignano, the Most Reverend Salvatore Nunnari, Chaplain Grand Cross of Merit. Furthermore, the Nob. Dr. Concetta Lombardi Satriani brought greetings from the interim Delegate for Calabria, H.E. the Marquis Pierluigi Sanfelice di Bagnoli, Knight Grand Cross of Justice, Lieutenant for Southern Peninsular Italy of the Royal Commission for Italy.
