On 8 December 2024, on the anniversary of the solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which this year coincides with the 170th anniversary of the proclamation of the dogma which defines that the Madonna was preserved from original sin from the first moment of her conception, the Upper Ionian Cosentino Section of the Calabrian Delegation of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George made the donation of a base in solid oak to house the statue of the Immaculate Conception of the All Holy Mary, Mother of God, in the Parish of Santa Maria Ad Nives. This parish is governed by the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer, in Schiavonea, Italy, a hamlet of Corigliano Rossano, province of Cosenza.
The base or platform measures 80x80x120 cm and was created by the local company Gruppo Cami Arredamenti srl. It was delivered by a representative of the Delegation of Calabria to the Parish Priest Father Davide Perdono, C.SS.R., who expressed his heartfelt thanks. The representative of the Upper Ionian Consentino Section, Antonio Coiro, Knight of Office, was present at the delivery ceremony, with the postulants Salvatore Minervini; Cataldo Papparella; Giovanni Battista Rindelli; Franca Spataro; Sabrina Spataro and Massimo Turtora.
The Interim Delegate for Calabria, H.E. Marquis Pierluigi Sanfelice di Bagnoli, Knight Grand Cross of Justice, Lieutenant for Southern Peninsular Italy, expressed these words: “The solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary is one of the most important Marian feasts in the liturgical calendar of the Catholic Church and through this gesture, we honor, as the Constantinian Order, this dogma of faith, bowing as Knights and Dames under her maternal protection.”
