In that spirit, on the late morning of Saturday, June 27, 2026, the Lamezia Terme City Section of the Calabria Delegation of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George offered a concrete sign of attention to the people aided by the Caritas Mensa of the Diocese of Lamezia Terme, at the interparochial complex of San Benedetto in the Sambiase area.
The donation of about 800 ice creams transformed a gesture of solidarity into a moment of serenity and sharing, bringing a smile to the numerous children and adults who daily turn to the diocesan Mensa, especially during this period marked by high summer temperatures.
The initiative fits into the charitable commitment that the Calabria Delegation continuously carries out in the territory, through a constant presence alongside ecclesial and assistance realities, concretely testifying to the principles of Faith in Action, service, and attention to the last that characterize the mission of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George.
In recent months, the Lamezia Terme Section has promoted numerous support initiatives for the Diocesan Caritas and local charitable works, including donations of shoes, clothing, and Easter breads, consolidating stable collaboration with ecclesial institutions in the area and contributing, through simple yet meaningful actions, to alleviating the difficulties of the most vulnerable. This new initiative also confirms that the testimony of Christian charity finds its most authentic expression in the continuity of service, the joy of giving, and the ability to be near those in need.
The donation was coordinated and delivered to the Caritas Mensa referent, Sister Paulo Guzzi, by the interim City Referent of Lamezia Terme, Raffaele Mazza, Knight of Merit, and the interim Delegation Councillor, Maurizio Capano, Knight of Merit, assisted by the Postulant Alessandro Bonaddio and the young volunteers Ilenia Fatima and Francesco Mazza.
In addition to the knights already involved in the delivery, the ice creams were funded by the interim Delegation Secretary General, Dr. Domenico D’Auria, Knight of Merit with Silver Star, and by Knights of Merit Dr. Paolo Bagalà, Ing. Salvatore Medici, Angelo Crucitti, and Costantino Mancuso, further confirming the Delegation’s shared commitment to supporting the assistance and solidarity works promoted in the territory.
The delivery was gratefully received by Sister Paulo Guzzi, who daily coordinates the Caritas Mensa service, a reference point for many people and families experiencing economic and social difficulties. The gesture provided guests of the facility with a moment of joy and refreshment, making a hot day in the Lamezia area feel a little cooler.
Words of praise and encouragement were expressed by the interim Calabria Delegate, Count Gianluigi Gaetani dell’Aquila d’Aragona dei Duchi di Laurenzana (of the Dukes of Laurenzana), Neapolitan Patrician, Knight of Justice, who stressed that initiatives of this kind represent concrete testimony of the Order’s chivalric spirit, called to translate the values of Glorification of the Cross, Propagation of the Faith, and service to the Holy Roman Church into works of authentic charity toward others.
